On Sunday, 7th August, Special Guest, Jennifer Byrne (ABC Book Club) attended our Friends of Mithra Luncheon, and launched both our new Association and the new website. Both Jennifer and the new Chancellor of the University of Queensland, Mr Peter Varghese AO – former Australian High Commissioner to India – gave very moving talks about their respective associations with Sr Mary Theodore, and her dream of establishing MITHRA for the poorest of the poor in Chennai India. Students from St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace, St Rita’s College, Clayfield, and St Leo’s College UQ,attended also. Each group will be volunteering at Mithra in September and December.
