At a special ceremony in Chennai on Friday 23rd February, the newly appointed Australian Consul General to Chennai, India, Mrs Susan Grace and the President of the Indo-Australian Association, Dr Susan Marthandan and Professor Eugenie Pinto presented the 2018 Indo-Australian Award to Mrs Helen Mahoney OAM from Brisbane. Helen is the niece of Sr Mary Theodore (May Asmar) the founder of Mithra. Sr Mary Theodore, who died in December 2012, was also a recipient of this prestigious award.
Helen’s husband, Dr Peter Mahoney and a small group of Australian friends were able to join Helen at the ceremony.
