Recently Mithra welcomed Mr Jonah Stephen and his wife Ronita to our campus in Chennai. Mr Stephen is the founder and CEO of Stephen Consulting and Ventures, a software consultancy based in Chennai with operations in Australia. Here’s what he had to say after his visit.
“On Friday, Ronita and I had the privilege of visiting Mithra Rehabilitation Centre in Chennai. The visit was wonderfully coordinated by Nick Lux and Helen Mahoney – the niece of Mithra’s legendary Australian founder, Sister Mary Theodore OAM.
Established in 1977, Mithra is a brilliant example of Australia’s enduring charitable footprint in India, proudly patronised by the Australian Community in India.
Meeting with Director Mr Sugumar and Principal Sr. Jancy, we saw firsthand how this incredible non-profit empowers underprivileged, specially-abled children and young adults through Specialised Education & Therapy, Vocational Training, and an in-house unit fabricating free, custom mobility aids (wheelchairs, calipers, and walkers). Mithra perfectly demonstrates how international empathy, family legacy, and dedicated local leadership can restore human dignity.
