Students Gather for International Women’s Day Soirée at St Rita’s College

St Rita’s College in Brisbane hosted a rescheduled International Women’s Day Soirée and Schools Networking Evening on Thursday 8 May. The event was originally planned for March but was postponed due to Cyclone Alfred’s impact on the region.

Eight Catholic schools from across Greater Brisbane were represented, with 70 senior students attending. The theme for the evening was Justice, with a particular focus on how justice is lived and experienced through Mithra.

Mrs Helen Mahoney OAM, representing Friends of Mithra, spoke passionately about the three pillars of justice – appreciation, love, and kindness – and how these values are embedded in everything Mithra does.

The students showed strong engagement and interest, with many asking for more information about Mithra and how they might volunteer after completing school. It was a powerful and inspiring afternoon – a testament to the compassion and leadership emerging from our Australian schools.
